![]() ![]() really only drove on the weekends and i concede, traffic can suck. caveat on traffic.i lived in an Uptown high rise and worked in an Uptown high rise six blocks away. the top notch airport made my travel life easy. really, really loved the pro sports environment and great venues for concerts and plays. to some degree, advice on this topic is very industry specific. the corporate downtown area was exactly what i was looking for in a work environment, and salaries in CLT made up for any difference in working in a smaller place. to me, the intangibles were worth it and i would go back in a heartbeat. Houses near the Larger of the two Hospitals are expensiveĪdd a pizza and those are all of my favorite things! i lived Uptown.amazing condo, my favorite place ever.Public Transit is Lacking in several critical locations throughout the city.We do not have Korean BBQ (Although High Point and Greensboro do have Korean BBQ).Winston-Salem does not have direct airline service (Closest Airport with Airline Service is Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro which is 23 miles away).Surface Streets aren't laid out in a grid and can be difficult for first time motorists.Winters are Overcast-Rainy and sometimes Gloomy and occasionally Winter Precipitation makes commuting and or driving difficult to impossible. ![]() Not Subjected to Hurricanes and/or Tropical Storms.Hour and a Half drive to Charlotte (Depending on traffic).Not too terribly far away from the Mountains.Home to one of the state's well known Universities (Wake Forest University).Membership is a little pricey to me but I already have most of the tools I need anyway. If you are into the Maker scene there is MIXXER downtown as well. Restaurants tend to turn over fast so anything not well run or without a dedicated clientele won't last long. Lots of wineries in the area as well if that is your thing. High Point also gets it share of events.īlue Ridge Parkway makes a nice Sunday drive. Greensboro is not far away and the Tanger center gets all the traveling Broadway shows. We do have a leash law so puppers must be on a leash. My son is a member so he gets a discount, membership not required. SECCA is a high art museum sponsored by one of the Reynolds family.Ī/perture cinema downtown shows a lot of art and foreign films.
